Required Vaccines for Dog Boarding
Dogs four months of age and older must have up-to-date rabies, distemper, and bordetella inoculations. We recommend the Canine Influenza vaccine.
We welcome puppies as young as eight weeks, once they have begun their vaccination series with your veterinarian.
Flea & Tick Prevention – we require dogs to be given a flea and tick prevention treatment. If your dog is not currently being treated for fleas and ticks, we can administer a topical Bio Spot treatment upon check-in for a small additional charge.
Required Vaccines for Cat Boarding
Cats four months and older need up-to-date rabies and the combination vaccine commonly known as “FVRCP.”
We are happy to work directly with your vet to get the required info.
Check-In / Check-Out
Check-in at your convenience during office hours. Check-out is by 1:00pm. If picking up your pet before 1pm is inconvenient, we’d be happy to care for your pet the rest of the day and offer extended pick up times until the lobby closes for a fee of $19.
Normal closing times are: 6pm Monday through Friday, 5pm Saturday and 3pm Sunday.
Deposits & Cancellations
A valid credit card on file will guarantee your reservation. Our cancellation policy is necessary to ensure we can accommodate all of our clients. Your reservation specialist will review our cancellation policy when you make your reservation.
We feed your pets one or two meals per day, at your request, and fresh water is always available.
For dogs, we offer a delightful mix of Iams dry kibble and Pedigree wet food. We have many Iams formulations on-hand, so please let us know if you have a special request.
For cats, we provide Hills’s Science Diet kitty kibble.
If you choose to bring your pet’s food from home, we ask that you package and label the food in individual portions for each meal. We will also cook a special chicken and rice meal in our full kitchen upon request for an additional fee.
Medications & Special Care
Many pets require daily medications, and our pet care team will administer any prescription from your veterinarian in the form of pills, liquids, ointments or dressings. There is a fee of $2 per medication administration, unless you have purchased the Senior / TLC Package for your pet.
Dogs aged 10 and above are housed in a quiet area away from more boisterous pets, and we keep an even closer eye on them. Please share any concerns you have about your pet’s emotional or physical needs during their stay at Rivermist.
Our Senior Care Package is designed for older dogs or for those that require extra TLC.
Pet Health & Safety
We provide your pet with comfortable bedding, clean bowls for water and food, and an assortment of play toys for their enjoyment. You can also choose from a variety of special treats to enhance your pet’s stay at Rivermist.
If your pet requires medical attention while in our care we will contact your veterinarian as well as other highly trained veterinarians. We will also let you know right away.
