Pet Care Policies
Required Vaccines for Dog Boarding
For the health and safety of all our guests, all dogs are required to have their age-appropriate vaccines. Dogs four months of age and older must have up-to-date rabies, distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations. While we do not currently require the Canine influenza vaccines, we do highly recommend them. We welcome puppies as young as eight weeks old, once they’ve begun their vaccination series with your veterinarian.
Because we’re in a country setting and your pet will be enjoying activities outside, we do require that all guests are on a flea and tick preventative.
Check-In / Check-Out
Check-in at your convenience during office hours. Check-out is by 1:00pm. If picking up your pet before 1:00pm is inconvenient, we’d be happy to care for your pet the rest of the day and offer extended pick-up times until the lobby closes for a fee of $19.
Normal closing times are: 6:00pm Monday-Friday, 5:00pm Saturday and 3:00pm Sunday.
Feeding
Since canines are so routine-based, we keep them on the same feeding schedule as home. For dogs, we offer a variety of Iams premium dog food options from ages puppy to seniors. For cats, we offer premium wet and dry options.
You’re welcome to bring your pet’s own food, we just ask that you pack each serving separately. If your pet has any allergies, dietary restrictions, or a sensitive stomach, we recommend you provide your own food to ensure the most comfortable stay.
Required Vaccines for Cat Boarding
Cats four months and older need up-to-date rabies and the combination vaccine commonly known as FVRCP. We’re happy to work directly with your vet to get the required info.
Deposits & Cancellations
For stays over two weeks, we require a minimum of a 20% deposit at the time of check-in. If your plans change, we ask that you please notify us as soon as possible, but no later than 5 days prior to check-in to avoid a cancellation fee.
Medications & Special Care
Our highly trained team understands that some guests may have special needs. Please share any special requirements or concerns you have about your pet’s emotional or physical needs to ensure we can best accommodate your pet’s stay.
Our team can administer oral and topical medications during the stay. There is a fee of $2 per medication administration, unless you have signed up for the Senior/TLC Package.
Pet Health & Safety
To help keep our dog lodging facilities clean (and to avoid the loss of personal items) we discourage pets from bringing items from home. We provide your pet with comfortable bedding, clean bowls for water and food, and an assortment of play toys for their enjoyment. You can also choose from a variety of special treats to enhance your pet’s stay at Rivermist Pet Lodge.
